Thanksgiving Day 2008 ~ Dog sit Harlee this weekend?

Thanksgiving 2008!

8:30 AM - Come into work to be non stop busy and on my feet for 8 hours. We sat about 400 people in the 8 hours I was here - and were going to be open another 4 hours.

4:30 - Call Chris in tears because my feet and body hurt so much... I cannot climb these stairs in our restaurant 100 times a day anymore... An extra 12 pounds is A LOT to carry around.

5:00 -I arrive at Whit's to have Thanksgiving Dinner.. they were left overs since I didn't make it to the actual dinner at 3:00... but they were absolutely delicious and I brought a huge plate of leftovers to work today to have for lunch! T-minus 20 minutes til I can go get my lunch plate :)

7:00 - Fall asleep on Whit's couch - so I decide to head home before I can't keep my eyes open anymore.

8:00 - Get home and make a yummy pumpkin pie for the Hull's Thanksgiving this weekend :)

Relaxed on the couch the rest of the evening - waiting for Chris to finish his paper he had all semester to write - but didn't finish until last night. Figures.

So - not exactly the best Thanksgiving Day I can remember - but this weekend will be MUCH better :) We leave tonight to go to Waycross to spend the weekend with Chris' family.

Only this morning - we find out it is going to rain in Waycross all weekend so bringing our three dogs may possibly be a small issue. They normally stay in the back yard - but obvsiously not if it's raining. If anyone happens to read this today and would like to dog sit Harlee from today until Sunday night - let us know. If not - she'll have to stay in her crate all weekend at the Hull's house. Poor pup!

Here are some pix from yesterday :)

My parents dog, KC is staying with us this week. And he played in the back yard yesterday for a long time with Chris and the other pups... he was EXHAUSTED. Instead of curling up on his HUGE pillow like he normally does - he chose to go get in BUDDIE'S bed... yes... the bed that Buddie perfectly fits in :) He seemed content so we let him stay :)

Our 3 pups last night - Harlee, Buddie and Jack... they were all so cuddly on the couch. I love it when they do this :)

Harlee takes up just a little bit more room than the other guys :)

Doug, Whit and Kayley at their house. Kayley wasn't cooperating very well...

HOPE EVERYONE HAD A WONDERFUL THANKSIVING :) I've loved reading everyone's Thanksgiving posts! XOXO-Hillary

Harlee and the toothbrush...

So - as I'm getting in bed last night - I see Harlee standing at our doorway doing something that looks like she's ducking and trying to get away from an invisible bird or something. I then hear Chris laughing and of course - he is showing Har a toothbrush (what sensible dog isn't afraid of a toothbrush?) It was hysterical... I got my camera out to get a few seconds of video. Then I started to feel really bad - because she was REALLY, actually afraid. She got a long cuddle session after this AND I let her sleep on the guest bed... something she hasn't been allowed to do in a while. :) Sweet baby girl :) She probably had nightmares of huge toothbrushes chasing her around the house!

In the meantime, while Har was infatuated with the toothbrush, Buddie was onto something going on behind/under our dresser. I was SURE that a critter was waiting for us under there - so I made Chris go find the flash light to check it out. And guess what we found.... MY RAINBOWS!!!! I have been missing my favorite flip flops for like a year and they were under our dresser the whole time! THANKS BUDDIE!

Oh and if you're wondering what the heck is in the middle of our hallway? A VENT! Yes - in our floor! Just one of the many perks of renting a house built in 1950. I think I actually really will miss our little house... I've grown to love it in the past 2 years! HOWEVER - I am SO excited to not have to step over a huge vent every time I go from one room to another in our new house! :)

Ice Cream in the Freezer...

The other day - Chris goes to get some ice cream out of our freezer. No where to be found. OF COURSE it's in the fridge - underneath the orange juice and pushed to the back. Where else would it be?

Now - I would have REALLY had to do some work to get the ice cream in the fridge - underneath the huge bottle of OJ.

I'm going crazy.

Found the picture...

Thanks to Betsy's facebook page - I found the one picture I was looking for.... from my favorite scene of the movie.

Awesome Weekend!

Chris and I had such a nice RELAXING weekend. We slept in late on Saturday morning... Chris got up and cooked me breakfast! Yummy totally homemade waffles and then I went and got back in bed to finish the Twilight series :) I'm so sad it's over... I kind of want to re-read the first after seeing the movie - which was AWESOME by the way! Some people said they didn't like it - but I don't see how you couldn't LOVE it... I think it does a great job at playing the book out.

I had already posted this blog - and after reading through I don't think I gave Twilight the justice it deserves! :) Edward Cullen is probably the most wonderful character ever portrayed in any fiction book. He is amazing! He signifies the most gentleman part of any gentleman... and although my husband is totally amazing and wonderful - I don't think it's possible to be as perfect as Edward... guess that's why he's FICTIONAL character! I will be asking that my husband open the car door for me lots more though - just so I can feel a little bit like Bella!

Here are a few shots of my favorite parts of the movie. My absolute favorite scene is when Edward and Bella are "out" and they drive to school together in his perfect car of course. He hops out of his car and rushes to open the door for Bella and he has these amazing sunglasses on :)

This is another favorite scene. :) Ahh - to only be whisked away to the top of a tree at the top of the mountains with the most dreamiest guy ever!

My parents came in town on their way down to Cocoa Beach for Thanksgiving down there. I so wish I could be there. I am so thankful for my job, but it does get a little depressing working through two of the most wonderful family holidays of the year. I am working all week - hopefully I'll be able to leave a little bit early on Thursday so I can have some turkey with Whitney and Doug and all of Doug's family up in Cumming.

We are leaving after work on Friday to go down to Waycross to be with Chris' family for the weekend. I love going down there because there is TRULY never a dull moment. With 10 adults, 1 toddler, and 7 dogs.... just think of all the fun we have! I'm sure I'll have LOTS of fun pictures to share when we get back!

Saturday afternoon I took a few pictures of Whitney, Doug and Kayley and I got a few really sweet ones... here is my favorite.

This one totally cracks me up - Kayley looks like she's saying, "You're going to do WHAT!?!"

OH - be sure to check out my baby blog this week! We find out the sex in 15 days and we are SUPER excited! We are trying to decide on names. Katie Deese - I know your vote is for Monster Truck but unfortunately, we have a cousin named that so we couldn't do it. Sorry! Vote on my other blog's poll for your favorite girl and boy name!

XOXO-Hillary

BABY NAMES!!!!

It's baby namin' time! We find out if baby Hull is a boy or girl in 14 days and we'd like to have a name picked out the day we find out! What do y'all think? Take a shot at the poll to the right and let us know what you think. What's your favorite boy and girl name?

Caroline Hull - I have always loved the name Caroline and it has meaning too... Chris' mom's name is Carol and my mom's name is Caroline. I love it because it's southern and even if you don't have a southern accent - you kind of have to put a little southern twang ot get the "line" part out of the name :) We have no idea what middle name should go with Caroline though... we may be middle-name-less for awhile if we choose this name. Maybe Jane would go with it? I don't know - any ideas? Or maybe Hope? Hope is my grandma's middle name.

Taylor Anne Hull - We have always loved the name Taylor and my middle name is Anne.

Parker James Hull - We have always liked this name - Chris' middle name and his dad's name is James.

Carter Christopher Hull - We thought of this name thanks to my bloggy friend Heidi's son!

Benson David Hull - Chris thought of this name a few weeks ago - we have a sweet friend from Waycross who is married to a Benson - and we both like it. And David is Chris' dad's middle name.

Peyton James Hull - Chris came up with this one.. and I like it :)

Baby Checkup

Baby Hull's check up went FABULOUS last week. Heartbeat was strong - around 160 - and I was able to talk Dr. Marcus into letting me come back in 3 weeks versus 4 weeks for my next appointment so that I can find out the sex!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I go back in 15 days (December 8) - I CANNOT WAIT - and will find out the sex then. We go at 9 a.m. and I'm sure the first thing I'll do when I get to work is update the bloggity blog with the news! We've chatted about holding the news to ourselves for a few weeks until Christmas - but let's be honest people. I have never been able to keep a secret... EVER! So I'm not even going to try and kid myself. :)

Here is what's happening in my belly this week :)

Baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — its lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and is around 5 inches long from head to bottom. It can move its joints, and its sweat glands are starting to develop.

Is that not amazing or what!?!?! :)

T-MINUS 81 HOURS!

I AM SO EXCITED! TWILIGHT COMES OUT THIS FRIDAY AND I AM SO PUMPED!!!!!!!
I'm even more excited cause I get to go with 2 of my favorite Waycross people :) Betsy and I have been friends since the 3rd grade and have so many fun memories together! We kind of lost touch during the end of high school (when I moved away) and during college but re-connected this fall at my dog party and it felt like we had just seen each other a few days before! I guess that's just how long time friends are! And Nicki is coming too! I'm always excited to spend time with my Nicki :)

So - anyone who wants to join us - we're going to the early evening show at 6:30 at the Regal theater off of 85 in Chamblee. I think it's called the Hollywood Regal or something like that. We got early tickets off of fandango.com.

I stole these pictures off of Hollie's blog! Thanks Hollie... OH and to all my church buddies who are going on Friday night over in the Smyrna area, let me know and we can meet up after the movie for some hot chocolate and dessert somewhere and talk about how much we love Edward :)

XO-HHH

I forgot I took this! Our lovely Shane friend decided to start up some singing around the fire... it was nice. There is something really peaceful and serene about being out in the woods, around a fire, and lifting praise to God.

When we got home, Chris and I were talking about our favorite parts of our fun night with friends and he said that he thought the singing was dumb. Oh well - I liked it!

Week 16 - 17

I go to the doctor this week - YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! So excited. I love doctor appointment weeks because I get to be REASSURED that my baby's heart is still beating and doing OK! :) They also make me step on this terrible, awful scale that should be thrown out. It is SERIOUSLY 3-6 lbs off from any other scale I ever step on - and NOT 3-6 lbs in the direction I need it to be. Stupid scale. According to our home scale I've gained about 10 lbs - which honestly probably is too much for only being in the beginning of my 2nd trimester - but I am REALLY hoping I am feeling well during the evenings of this week so that I can start to walk/jog and do some Firm DVDs to shape up my pregnant body! We'll see :) The doc says it's totally OK to do the work outs I was doing before pregnancy - but to just ease into them. Which won't be hard I'm sure :)

I also really like going to the doctor to do just that - see my doctor! I love him and am so glad I have him as my doctor. He's a super cute guy and has a even cuter personality. He knows EXACTLY what to do to make me laugh and make me not so nervous about everything I'm so nervous about. He's the perfect fit as our doctor and Chris and I are so blessed to have him. :) Here's a pic of him with my sister's baby a few weeks ago - just a few minutes after birth.

So - I am FAIRLY sure that I have felt the baby move about 3 times in my belly. Once on Friday afternoon here at work. Another time Sunday morning as I was hopping out of the car to walk into J Christophers and again last night after the bon fire - while we were just sitting on the couch at Katie's parents house hanging out. Most people say it'll feel like a bubble or butterflies - it definitely didn't feel like that. It didn't feel good - or bad - just like something was being moved around in my body that normally isn't being moved around. It's weird - and I can't really explain it - and I'm not 100% sure it's the baby - but I'm pretty sure because it's nothing like anything else I've ever felt. It's not a cramp, it's not gas pains, or any of the other wonderful "pains" I've experienced during pregnancy. Anyway - I am really, really anxious to get to the doctor to hear the heat beat. ALSO - while we are at the doctor, we get to make our next ULTRASOUND appointment in 3-4 weeks so we can find out the SEX! All you crazy people who think I should wait til the baby is born are just that - CRAZY! I have to know ASAP and start planning for our little arrival who will be here in no time at all. :) Kudos to all of you who could actually wait - no way no way no way could I ever do that.

So - this morning - I am getting dressed and cannot find my belly band anywhere. The belly band is a NECESSITY for my work pants because they fit so high on my waist. Anyway - belly band is no where to be found. So - I had to take the plunge. The plunge into the big white shopping bag Whitney had packed with some maternity pants for me this past weekend. I hold them up and look at them like they are my worst enemy - slide my legs into them - and OH MY GOODNESS - seriously the most comfortable things I have EVER put on my body. I LOVE them. And they aren't so bad. I mean - they are pretty baggy on me now - but it has been several weeks since anything I have put on feels really comfortable - besides my pajama pants which as become the only thing I wear as soon as I walk into our house. Talk about heaven on earth.. I am in it... in my awesome comfy HUGE maternity pants :) This is actually the pair I have on today. If you would have told me that I would have ENJOYED wearing this hideous things a few weeks ago I would have told you that you are NUTS. :)

WEEKEND UPDATE!

Weekend - Rewind... Beginning with Sunday night :)

Sunday night we had a small group get together with another small group at church and we had a bonfire at Katie's parents house. We had so much fun chowing down on pizza - yes, I was the first to go through the line, and the first to get seconds :) - and I ate WAY too many Smores. YUM! I love cold nights by a fire with some of your favorite people :)

Here's a pic of the "last to leave" crew. This had to be the biggest, longest and comfiest couch I've ever been on :)

Here's Jarrett and Brian -- being Jarrett and Brian.

Hi Jen!

Some of the girls - waiting patiently for the pizza to get here! And - I am NEVER standing at the end of the line for pictures again! Not so flattering for a girl with a baby bump!

Sunday morning - at an hour that Chris and I didn't even know existed on Sunday mornings (8:30) - baby Campbell Anne was dedicated at her church - Johnson's Ferry Baptist. Here's everyone from the Hull family - we missed Jeff and Lan - at J Christophers afterwards. Baby Campbell was the cutest baby up there and everyone thought she was just the most adorable little baby :)
Kristen and Scott, Carol and Jim, Me and Chris, Amy and Jeffrey - and baby Campbell.

Camo just woke up from her long nap at J Christophers

During the dedication.

At church

Saturday afternoon - Chris' parents came up and we went to check out our new home - again! I think Chris and I have been up there every weekend since we bought the house to show it to people and the concrete hasn't even been poured yet!!! Here is a picture of our lot... I hadn't taken a picture of it yet. We own the land all the way up to the trees - and 50 feet into the woods, too.

Guilty.

He's guilty on all accounts - and they ruled him not insane at all during the time he killed her.

Just a forewarning - on WSB news - online and on TV - they are showing the video of the actual murder. They are editing it and pausing at parts where it shows people actually getting hurt - but it's still pretty graphic. We had TiVo-ed the news today and after Chris saw it he deleted them all so I wouldn't have to see it. But I saw it online this evening anyway.

Thank you for all your prayers... I can feel them :)

His sentencing is in December. Will probably be life or life plus 50.

More updates...

The jury is still deliberating... not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

This afternoon - the entire story has been the top news story on www.wsbtv.com. The are naming it the "The Samurai Sword Murder Case"... I hate the media. I love being reminded why I didn't pursue a journalism career. Oh and they spell Jocilyn's name wrong.

Please pray for the jury that they will make the right decisions.

--Hillary

Could you separate these two? And Trial Update...

So - as most of you know - we've been "fostering" Harlee Jane for nearly NINE months now. We've been actively looking for a home for about 3 months and only one person has come to meet her... and I don't think she was interested. I never knew it could be so difficult to find a GOOD home for a GOOD dog?!
Anyway - Jack pretty much wanted NOTHING to do with Harlee Jane when she first came in our lives. And now - wherever you find Jack - you will find Harlee Jane. They are always on the same couch together - always in the same spot in the back yard together... I just don't know what God means for me to do with this sweet puppy! I honestly don't feel as if Harlee will have the best life possible with US in the upcoming months! I know she won't. But now - not only am I super attached to her - but she and Jack are totally attached, too. I don't understand what I'm supposed to do here. I feel pulled in two directions. I just don't know why God is taking so long to answer our prayer about this sweet pup.
Trial update - Chris sat in the courtroom yesterday to hear all the closing arguments. I was able to make it after work - for the last 45 minutes or so of it. And it's all over the news today. They showed the courtroom yesterday on the news - they showed our attorney waving the sword he killed her with around the room - which was pretty disturbing if you ask me - and they showed the defense attorney's closing argument about how although it's a proven fact that he killed her - considering it's on camera, in broad day light, and in a full restaurant -but, and I quote, "What was going through his mind?" Blech - I can't even talk about it anymore. All we can do is pray that the jury convicts him today with the JUSTICE he so deserves. Here is the news article about it today. Hopefully, we'll find out the verdict soon. I'll keep you all updated.

Rough week...

Hey friends! So sorry I've been MIA the past week... I've had a lot going on. A friend of mine who lived with me when I went to KSU was murdered by her ex boyfriend a few months after she moved out of my house. It happened just a little over two years ago and I knew this time would come. I had to testify for her in court and it was terrible. However, I am so glad it's over. Thank you to everyone who prayed for me... it was terrible and I hope that none of you have to experience something like that... ever.

A lot of the things I was afraid of - seeing her family and friends and especially seeing her killer ended up not being so terrible. Her parents gave me a giant hug after it was over and I had absolutely no problem staring down her killer from the witness stand. I have never felt so much anger and hatred towards anyone before.

Soon after I left the court house I got a text message from the attorney's assistant and she said that in the two years she had been working in the court room - she had never been so close to crying and that it was incredibly powerful. That of course made me feel great - and all the sleepless nights and stress I had been through for the three days I sat at the court house waiting to be called to the stand was worth it.

Jocilyn was one of the most beautiful and loving people I had ever met. I feel blessed that we found each other and became the best of friends before she died. Here is a photo of us and our other room mate, Lisa, one night. We were roasting marshmellows and making smores out by our fire pit in our back yard. Lisa's on the left, me in the middle, and Joci on the right.

I felt Joci looking down on me as I was on the witness stand.

I love you Joci and I know you can see exactly how loved and blessed you were. You have so many friends and family who loved you so much. We miss you. I miss you. XO

15th Week Morning Sickness? At night?

So - I have been INCREDIBLY lucky my entire pregnancy. A few days AFTER I found out I was pregnant, I kinda felt sick for ONE day - and I mostly blame that on my nerves and stress level going absolutely crazy.

Well - yesterday - I kind of felt bad all day long. Just a little fever-ish, a little weak, but nothing I was really complaining about. Well - until 6:00 rolled around and I was at work. I was supposed to stay at work a little longer and decided that I probably should go ahead and go home just in case I started to feel worse. I get home and Chris had already heated up the casserole and rolls I had made for the a friend at church who is 30 weeks pregnancy and on bedrest for the next 8 weeks. So, Chris was about to leave for class and I was going to take the food over to our friends house when something inside me told me that I should probably have Chris stay home from class and go with me. I was really feeling strange.

So - we are on our way to our friends house - who live only 10 minutes away from our house - when I had to have Chris stop the car immediately. He rolled down the window and everything I had consumed in the past 8 hours came out of me. I was feeling better until I looked up and there was a LINE of cars behind ours with their head lights displaying my lovely masterpiece coming out before them. I'm just sure they were all thinking that this crazy lady had too much to drink at 6:00 at night and couldn't hold her liquor. I have never been more embarrassed.

I finish my business and we get to our friends house. I had Chris take the food in - I was SURE I wasn't looking or smelling my best to take food into our friends house. So, he comes back to the car a few minutes later and everything was fine. Until we get to one of the busiest intersections in our neighborhood. Thank Goodness the light turned green when it did - we pulled over at the gas station - which by the way was lit up like an airport runway - and I started, but as I looked up and saw about 1o people staring at me while they were pumping their gas, I quickly ducked my head inside and told Chris to GO. Fortunately, I was able to hold it all in... if I kept my head hanging out the side of the car on the way home. As we stopped at the NEXT busy intersection in downtown Smyrna - at another gas station - a looked up praying the light would turn green already and I see this lady jogger in a super cute hot pink jogging outfit slowing down and staring at me... I can only imagine she was thinking that Chris had beat me up and was taking me somewhere to dump my body... really... I looked that terrible. I quickly ducked my head in again and was able to keep everything in for the rest of the evening. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the hot pink jogger lady jotted down our license plate number to turn into the cops when she finished her nice little job around Smyrna.

I'm hoping this isn't a new trend in the Life of Pregnant Hillary. If so - I am totally not looking forward to it. Especially since starting next week - my job requires me to be here pretty late every night of the week!

I guess I'll take it slow tonight and see what happens! I guess I never thought it would be possible to start having morning sickness - at night - and in my 15th/16th week of pregnancy!

God is still in control!

I read this SOMEWHERE a few months ago - maybe on someone's blog - or an email - but nonetheless - it was ALL I could think about yesterday. I am at peace. We have an amazing God. And WE do not have all the answers.

God Is Still In Control

By the end of the day today, we will know a lot about the future of the United States. You might be surprised to learn that I am about to predict the outcome - I am about to predict what will happen after the election. Before the votes are counted, even before the voting booths close, I can predict with 100% accuracy that the following things will happen...

1. The Bible will still have all the answers.
2. Prayer will still work.
3. The Holy Spirit will still move.
4. God will still inhabit the praise of His people.
5. God will still pour out His blessings upon His people.
6. There will still be God-anointed teaching and preaching.
7. There will still be singing of praise to God.
8. There will still be room at the Cross.
9. Jesus will still love His own.
10. Jesus will still save the lost.

Whatever the outcome of this election, remember, God is still in control. Today, tomorrow, forever... God is still in control.

Top 8 Reasons I am Thankful...

I am so thankful for all our blessings we have been so graciously given by God. We done nothing to deserve His goodness and yet He keeps on giving. Here are some of the top things I am SO thankful for. When I am still and really think about all that God has blessed me with - I can't help but weep... it's absolutely amazing how richly God has blessed us.

Besides the first few - they are not in any particular order!

1)First and foremost - for our Heavenly Father who died on the cross and rose 3 days later so that I may live and not die for the sins I commit every day.

2)My family. Not only am I so thankful for my family - but I am thankful for my family I married into. Not many people can say that they love their husband's family as much as they do their own. Chris and I are so blessed to get along SO well with each others family and our families do NOTHING but POUR love and support on us - non stop.

3)Each other - I am so thankful for my incredible husband. He is the most supportive and loving man I could ask for. We have SO much fun together every day. Our 2nd year of marriage has definitely been rough and not all fun and games - but even through EVERY trial that God has placed in our way - we have grown together and much closer than ever.

4)Our church - About a year ago - Chris and I found Vinings Lake Church in Smyrna. It is the most incredible church and we have made incredible friendships that I hope don't ever end. Before we found VL - we were blessed with another amazing church up in Woodstock called Bridgepointe. It was also incredible and the friendships we formed there have not ended due to the distance we moved away from them. In a way - we are extremely sad because we never really did get plugged into VL like we did to Bridgepointe - as far as volunteering and getting to know as many people in the church as possible... mostly because we have been planning to move since last March or April - just a few months after we found VL. But the ways we have been able to connect there have been incredible and the friendships I've formed with all my VL girls are so special. And even though many are just beginning to form - I know that they won't end due to 30 miles between us! (Here is a picture of the inside of our church!)

5)Our children (dogs)! - Okay - so those of you who are not dog lovers out there will not understand this - but I absolutely love my dogs. And I don't know what I would do without them. I consider them a true blessing from God and they bring so much joy and love into my life... I honestly cannot imagine life without them.

6)My pregnancy - About 3 months ago - I wasn't sure I'd be saying this so soon but I am SO thankful for this little baby God has placed in my belly. I have no idea why God has chosen to make me the mother of this child - Goodness knows there are thousands of mommies who want babies who cannot have them and will be much better mommies than I will be - but for some reason - I have been blessed with this little blessing - this 3 and a half inch long blessing who has individual unique fingerprints, a heart, beautiful skin, eyes, etc etc etc. It's absolutely amazing to know that I am growing an individual person in my body. Absolutely amazing. And I have no idea how anyone could NOT believe in God after experiencing something like this. Science is not perfect and all-knowing enough to create this precious miracle in my body.

7)A home - This home that Chris and I have bought is honestly the most beautiful and perfect home I could ever imagine living in. I want to move in and never ever move out! I pray that circumstances allow for us to move in and stay for a long period of time because this is my dream home... and I KNOW how incredibly blessed we are to have found this home and neighborhood in the most perfect area for us. We couldn't have bought this home without the love and support of our family and knowing this just makes me so proud to be a part of my entire family.

8)Our friends - Chris and I have so many friends - it's absolutely incredible and impossible to count the incredible number of friends we have... who love us and support us. I think that anyone would be lucky to have even 1 of the friends we have - but God has SO richly blessed us with unlimited supply of friends and love that we feel will never end.
